All GMs lie. This isn’t controversial. If you are asked if you are discussing trading a player that you are discussing trading- but only tentatively, the GM will always lie and say they aren’t. They have to or else they sabotage the relationship with the player that may very well not be traded. Its simple game theory. Sorry if that weakens your view of society, but its the job.

How is it debatable whether or not he knew Rubio would stay in Spain? If he says that he knew before the draft, then the fact that he drafted a PG with the pick directly following Rubio would be pretty strong evidence that he’s telling the truth.

Saying all GMs lie regularly is really ingenuous. We might as well say, “Everyone lies, so why believe anyone about anything?”
No society continues if all our conversations are like that. It’s much better to take the person at their word and just be careful about your own decisions.
Saying everyone lies is such a cop out; whether it’s in politics or sports. Just another way of avoiding any responsibility or real thought for yourself.
