Jazz, Williams ticked about trade

Feb 19, 2010, 5:28 PM EDT

NBA_Dwilliams_250.jpgAt a time when other Western Conference powers were adding pieces (Dallas) or at least standing pat (Lakers), the Utah Jazz were giving away a key rotation player to save money.

And that did not sit well with Deron Williams or the other Jazz players.

“I think if we’d make a trade it would be something a little different than that,” Williams said at the pregame shootaround. “You look at all the teams that are getting better around the West and we essentially get worse, if you ask me.”

Williams didn’t hide his frustration in talking to reporters and broadcasts, starting out by saying, “I really ain’t got nothing much good to say about the trade,” and declaring it was “pretty safe to say” his feelings were shared among the team.

Williams is in the fist year of a three-year deal (with a player option for a fourth) with the Jazz, which is a good thing for the franchise. Williams is the future and this summer he is likely to see Carlos Boozer leave and the team will have to start figuring out how to put more pieces around Williams, players that can move them out of the second tier of the West. The clock is ticking for the Jazz now.

“That’s why I signed a three-year deal.”

I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE JAZZ MANAGEMENT TODAY, WHY WOULD THEY TRADE A GOOD PLAYER LIKE RONNIE BREWER, HAVE THEY LOST THEIR MINDS THIS WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT THEM. THIS HAS MADE ME SICK ALL DAY. I HOPE THE REST OF THE TEAM DOESNT LET THIS BOTHER THEM. THEY WERE DOING SO GOOD IT IS LIKE YOU PULLED THE RUG OUT FROM UNDER THEM.WAKE UP YOU GUYS. I JUST WANT THE BEST FOR RONNIE AND OF COURSE THE REST OF THE TEAM.

call John and Karl, tell them they can take all the shots, and bring mutombo out of retirement. Then, you would have a real team.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

Brewer was great player but we were worse with him on the court. Wes Matthews is a better defender and Korver is a better shooter. Brewer was not better at either. Brewer would have been gone at the end of the season. I think it was good move.
